The Ryzen 7 Pro "Renoir" G recently landed in our lab. We included the processor to our gaming and application hierarchy below, but be aware that we used a discrete graphics card to test gaming performance for the values listed below.

This metric largely depends upon a mixture of instruction per cycle IPC throughput the number of operations the chip can execute in one clock cycle and frequency, which is the speed at which the transistors switch between on and off states.
However, a whole host of other considerations, such as cache, architecture, and interconnects like rings, meshes, and infinity fabric impact this measure of per-core performance, so these results do not align perfectly based upon clock frequency.
Instead, performance varies with each application and how well it is tuned for the respective architectures. Like we see with single-threaded performance metrics, multi-threaded performance, which is a measure of a chips performance in applications that utilize multiple software threads, varies based upon a whole host of architectural factors.
It also depends heavily upon how well the software scales with additional compute cores. Be aware that architectures, caches, and interconnects also have a profound impact on these results, as all of these factors impact how well performance scales with additional threads.
These factors impact the Threadripper lineup in our charts. With an industry-leading slathering of core counts, these processors offer the utmost performance in many different threaded workloads, but can suffer in some less-demanding desktop PC-class applications that either don't utilize the cores and threads fully, or aren't optimized for the architecture.The reason the base clock is so low relative to the iK is that the TDP rating has dropped from watts down to just 65 watts.
That being the case, the typical out of the both experience won't be power limited and therefore we'll be testing the Core i on a Z board with no TDP restrictions in place. So when it comes to pricing AMD is asking about the same kind of money for their base model 6-core, thread processor, which does not have integrated graphics but comes unlocked and supports memory overclocking on all motherboards. Intel Core i5-10400 vs. AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Far Cry New Dawn typically shows us a worst case scenario for Ryzen, yet the is shown to match the here when using the same DDR memory. Using DDR sees the slip a little behind but just barely. Moving to p sees the margins remain much the same and it would be impossible to tell the difference between the andeven when using slower DDR memory.
Moreover, when jumping up to p which we feel is a more realistic scenario with an RTX Ti, the and are indistinguishable in terms of gaming experience. Granted, as we move to p the results become far more GPU bound and as a result the and deliver identical performance when both are configured with DDR memory. Probably not, but hey, it's competing against the extremely aggressive and awesome Ryzen If you will be adding a graphics card to your build, then the slightly less expensive iF should prove a better value.
Thus, you could argue the price difference between the AMD and Intel processors is a wash. But when you factor in the platform and board cost, it's a bleaker picture for Intel. Both CPUs come with box coolers and neither is particularly impressive. But with a good motherboard, the i will end up costing more if you want to take advantage of faster memory.

With the basically always out of stock and increasing in price since I started planning my build, I'm exploring my options. Primary purpose of the build is for gaming, hence leaning toward Intel.
Whats a good AMD alternative in the price range? The AMD equivalent is the Ryzen 5 I'd look at combining it with a B Hoping this shortage may end by then :P. Support competition! More Cores, more threads, better in everything that's not gaming, Overclockable right out of the box, and again, cheaper! Only thing really making me hesitate is that you seem to have to overclock the to match the Maybe I could just take the savings from the mobo and CPU and get an AIO cooler rather than an air cooler to let me overclock in peace.
